Christian/Muslim ThreadsSura 89....Jesus Resurrection on the 3rd Day...Greetings Phiz,
Exactly….why indeed do modern translators choose to divorce themselves from what the classic Arabic states…? After years of study, it becomes excruciatingly clear why Muslims attempt to twist their Koran into saying something that it does not – and this is because of an extreme bias towards the Biblical message. The fascinating part of this whole thing is that the authors who penned the Arabic of the Koran obviously held to the Biblical message up to and including that Jesus is God Almighty and that He was crucified, and was Resurrected. Sadly, the classic Arabic (in which the Koran was penned) quickly became increasingly corrupted after the Koran was written – hence, modern Muslims attempt to force-modern Arabic meanings into what was never meant to be there in the first place. Hence, since the majority of people today are not true truth seekers, they could not care less what the “original” states, but are more interested in what tradition that they can identify themselves with… Anyway, let’s take a look at these ayahs… وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ Walayalin AAashrin 89.2 And three nights. لَيَالٍ = “layalin” “layalin” definition: Plural. Nights. By night. It comes from the root “lailun”, which means night; also the civil day from sunset to sunset. References: An Arabic-English Lexicon, E.W. Lane, volume eight, p. 3015 The Dictionary of the Holy Qur’an, 1st edition, Abdul Mannan Omar, pp. 522 - 523 A Dictionary and Glossary of the Koran, John Penrice, p. 135 Arabic English Dictionary, J.G. Hava, p. 704 عَشْرٍ = “AAashrin” “AAashrin” definition: Ten. A tenth; a tenth part; one part of ten parts. The eighth young one, or offspring. A piece that is broken off from a cooking pot, or from a drinking cup, or bowl, and from anything; as though it were one of ten pieces. Three nights of the lunar month, (the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth). It comes from the root “ashara”, which means to take away a tenth part, make ten by adding one to nine, be the tenth. References: An Arabic-English Lexicon, E.W. Lane, volume five, pp. 2050 - 2053 The Dictionary of the Holy Qur’an, 1st edition, Abdul Mannan Omar pp. 373 - 374 Thus, as you can verify for yourself, three nights is a completely legitimate rendering for this ayah. Couple this with the next ayah… وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ WaalshshafAAi waalwatri 89.3 And/by the two days after the sacrifice and the third day. الشَّفْعِ = “alshshafAAi” “alshshafAAi” definition: Signifies the adjoining a thing to its like. The day of the sacrifice. The two days after the sacrifice. It comes from the root “shafa’a”, which means he made it (a single thing) to be one of a pair or couple; a pair or couple together; and sometimes he made it to be one of a pair or couple together; the joining oneself to another as an aider to him or a petitioner respecting him (or for him); and in most instances the former person is one of higher station that the latter; or he adjoined it to, or coupled it with, that which was a single thing. He prayed, or supplicated. He, or it, was, or became, tall, or high. He a man) was smitten by the (evil) eye. An even number, a number that may be divided into two equal numbers. One with which another is made to be a pair or couple; one with which an odd number is made to be an even number; to make even that which was odd, make double, pair, make a thing to be one of the pair, adjoin a thing to its like, provide a thing which was alone with another, protect, mediate, intercede, be an intercessor. References: An Arabic-English Lexicon, E.W. Lane, volume four, pp. 1571 - 1573 The Dictionary of the Holy Qur’an, 1st edition, Abdul Mannan Omar, pp. 293 -294 Occurrences of “WaalshshafAAi” in the Koran: 1 Location: 89.3 Occurrences of the root “shafa’a” and its 8 forms in the Koran: 30 Locations: 2.48, 2.123, 2.254, 2.255, 4.85 (4x), 6.51, 6.70, 6.94, 7.53 (2x), 10.3, 10.18, 19.87, 20.109, 26.100, 30.13, 32.4, 34.23, 36.23, 39.43, 39.44, 40.18, 43.86, 53.26, 74.48 (2x), 89.3 In each and every occurrence in the Koran, the root and its eight derivatives, mean mediator/intercessor. Hence, we can be entirely confident that same mediator/intercessor meaning will also apply to this ayah – which is directly correlated with the sacrifice. الْوَتْر = “alwatri” “alwatri” definition: One of the names of God, the Single; the Sole; the One; He has no equal, or like; the Unequalled. God. The day of Arafat. The creatures of God. Adam’s wife. Adam. The third day. It comes from the root “watara”, which means he made it (a number), sole; or one, and no more; he made it to be an odd number; to suffer loss, defraud, hate, render (a member) odd, harass, do mischief, render any one solitary, be single. He slew his relation, and so separated him from him, and rendered him solitary; or he slew a person belonging to him, or related to him, without the latter’s obtaining revenge, or retaliation, for the blood of the slain; or he slew a person belonging to him, or related to him; or took property belonging to him. He executed blood-revenge upon him; or did so wrongfully; he overtook him with some displeasing, or abominable, or evil action. He frightened him; terrified him. A way, course, mode, or manner of acting, or conduct, or the like; and nature, or disposition; delay; confinement; restriction; restraint. A ring of sinew, by aiming at which one learns the art of piercing with the spear. A white rose; a red rose; or a rose-flower. A star, or blaze, or white mark on the forehead of a horse, when round and small. References: An Arabic-English Lexicon, E.W. Lane, volume eight, pp. 2917 - 2919 The Dictionary of the Holy Qur’an, 1st edition, Abdul Mannan Omar, p. 600 An intercessor and mediator of God? Emanating from the third day after the Sacrifice? It is abundantly clear that we can see how this sura is coming together to proclaim the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior the mediator and intercessor for all of mankind…. The authors who penned the Koranic text obviously knew the score… And knew it well… |
