Homosexual Discussion ForumSlavery and HomosexualityAll of the quotes were specially pulled out of the New Testament by intention so that you couldn't claim they applied to just the Israelites. Don't you think you're putting on an 'intellectual blindfold?' You simply dismiss the references to slavery, for which I posted several moral codes in the treatment of slaves as 'common practice' in Roman Times. yet At the same time you're unwilling to in a similar fashion 'admit' that perhaps Homosexuality was considered 'sinful' likewise because it's during 'Roman Times.' From my perspective this is where the argument falls apart. You cannot have it both ways. You cannot claim that Roman Times permited slavery, thus the Bible speaks to it without condeming it. while at the same time Claim that the Bible speaks to homosexuality as sinful while explianing the first away as a period practice. Besides you believe in bible interrancy which I addressed earlier. Why wouldn't have God have told the bible writers that slavery was wrong as he did with homosexualty? Aieno, I don't believe you can have it both ways: Either: 1. You believe in bible interrancy therefore the bible clearly endorses slavery as was practiced in the time as well as a condemantion of homosexuality. Ergo, slavery isn't wrong but homosexuality is. or 2. You don't believe in slavery regardless that it's mentioned in the bible many times w/o being condemed therefore Gods condemation of homosexuality is also suspect because both were the best wisdom of people who wrote something 2000 years ago. |
