ArchivedRomans 1:26: Is it possible...Cross_+_Flame, the Bible was written in Hebrew, Chaldean, and Koine Greek. There are times one must study the original language to get the full meaning of a Scripture. I use the NASB, however the majority of our members use the KJV and NIV, therefore what translation you prefer to use is immaterial. The Greek uses “shameless” + “passions”. Since God has not given any instructions as to what is “normal” or “natural” intercourse in marriage one could come up with almost any explanation for vs. 26 including oral and anal sex; contraception, divorce and remarriage, or even engaging in an sexual position other than the “white missionary face-to-face” position. If you take the time to put vs. 26 in its full context then you will notice "and" starts vs. 27. "And" is a conjunction, which joins two thoughts. Gay men engage in many activities other than anal intercourse so to use that one aspect of gay sex to support your thesis concerning vs. 26 is limiting the scope of what Paul is trying to teach. |
