Judaism ForumWHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL SIN? ANYONE? TRY THIS! :: Re: Satan and the treeRe: Satan and the tree I believe you’re right! The two references outside Genesis we seem to have about this tree of knowledge of good and evil do not describe Gd planting and caring for this tree as He does with Israel. We simply read, “Consider Assyria, a cedar in Lebanon” in Ezekiel 31, and then as we see this prophecy fulfilled, we read, “there was a tree in the midst of the land” (Daniel 10:4). The tree of knowledge of good and evil was already there, and Gd planted the orchard of Eden around it. This type is further defined in the building of the temple as we read how the temple was built with cedar (the very representation of the knowledge of good and evil - Ezekiel 31), with imaged of Palm trees carved in its surface ( a symbol of the tree of life). This provides us with a clear picture of the sovereignty of Gd, showing us how His righteousness will break through in the very midst of evil. |
