Homosexual Discussion ForumGod and gaysCross_+_Flame, so you don't think what a celibate 30 year-old Jewish Rabbi teaching Jews Jewish religious law regarding marriage and human sexuality is relevant? Since you think what Jesus had to saw in Matthew 19 applies only to divorce then lets take a look at Genesis 2:18 (which you posted) in its full context: 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed. NAS[/quote]The helper God found acceptable for Adam was a woman named Eve; not anothe man. Misquoting an article does not make your point. Camperio-Ciani did not state homosexuality has increased by 21% he stated that only 21% of gay's can be attributed to a possible genetic source leaving the cause of the other 79% as non-genetic. I did not accuse you of being an arm-chair theologian but an arm chair psychologist making accusations based on insufficient information. However, if you keep personalities out of this thread so will I. Actually, it is not a straw man argument, it is a valid question. I have never posted that any homosexual chooses to have those desires, in fact I can attest that a gay orientation is not chosen. Your statement concerning handedness is blatantly false. When I was in the first grade (1949) it was common practice to force lefties to use their right hand. In other words those born with a natural proclivity to use their left hand were forced to change. I was lucky since my 1st grade teacher did not accept this practice and did not force me to be right-handed. But since you brought handedness into this thread lets take a look at it. Being left-handed is a genetic anomaly and can be viewed as “abnormal”. Now, homosexual behavior observed in animals can be situational and as one study has stated has more to do with bonding than sexual pleasure. Although not universal homosexual behavior is common in prepubescent males who explore each other’s bodies out of curiosity and for pleasure as they learn how their bodies work and respond to stimuli. Animals also kill their own kind for food, when their territory is threatened, and many other behaviors that civilized societies find abominable. Polar bears will kill cubs so a sow will go into heat; wolves mate for life and are monogamous, as are swans. So I can appeal to animal behavior to oppose homosexual behavior. But mankind has an ability that animals do not have and that is the ability to make moral decisions. For Christians homosexual sex is a sin and a behavior that one can choose to avoid even when the desires are present. Heterosexuals deal with sexual desires they also have to control. The problem with anecdotal studies is they are based on self-identity and self-concept and do not attempt to answer an important question, which is “why”. As to the stance taken by both APA’s, the AMA, and other professional organizations regarding reparative therapy they are based on interviews with those who failed and totally ignore those who succeeded. These interviews also do not take into consideration why those who failed sought to change. Any person who seeks to change because they want family, religious, or societal acceptance are doomed to failure. |
