Homosexual Discussion ForumGod and gaysComplex Cause. Remove the extraneous details then. It doesn't change that someone is not "born" a rapist or thief. Is one "born" a mother/father? A husband/wife? No, they acquire that title by the actions they partake in. That is a totally different category than "born homosexual" because that does not require an act. Indeed, it does..for now. See my post above where I mentioned "but this is 21% more than it was 10 years ago." That's called an acknowledgement of concession . You wanna give a reference for that haha j/k. 8) That's an amazing quote, and very powerful. However, there are two problems applying it to the current debate over gays together: (1) the passage is about divorce (see the kernal in Mark 10:7-8 ). Jesus is being challenged regarding divorce by a hard-hearted person, and he is responding accordingly. Extending this response to homosexuality goes well beyond the text. (2) Look at the source. It was a celibate Jesus who did leave his mother and "Father" for his mission. We have to understand that since Jesus left his father and mother for a different reason, then we must be open to other possible options, especially options that fulfill the ends of Christian marriage defined by Genesis 2:18: "It is not good that the man should be alone." That is the first "not good" thing that God created, and it should be addressed via biblical and rational means. Incidentally, "I get a kick out of" is typically associated with "humored" or "giving pleasure by the sheer audacity of the other." I apologize if the slang was not parlayed, though the pre-existing choice of terms reasonably could lead someone to that conclusion. Were I a more self-conscious person, it would seem that you are categorizing me as an "armchair theologian" in the same way that you believe I posted "prejudices" and an "opinion" about you. I'm confident, however, that you are referring to experiences in your past, and not me in particular, since there is no solid basis for that conclusion. I would suggest we participate in further dialogue before we draw more erroneous conclusions about each other. |
