Christian/Muslim ThreadsCan Muslims peacefully coexist with the rest of the World. The Ottomans only had it's splendor in the time of Suleyman the Magnificent and a couple of decennia after it. Ever since then it desolved into a wannabe empire. And before Suleyman you had Ottoman conquerers who brutally expanded the country wich threatend the whole of Europe. The Ottomans empire was the last state with a caliphate, yet now islamic countries have their own individual Islamic laws, that's why the islamic laws in Saudi aren't the same as those in Pakistan, Iran or Bangladesh aren't the same. Nowadays the majority of muslim countries are not seperated from religion or are in a state of semi secularisation. Real westernization is Ataturkian, wich forbids theological schools, forbids women to wear veils, forbids the state to represant a religion... etc. Their are countries wich have religious police, laws against blasphemy with death penalty, Bangladesh in 1994 even exiled a woman (Taslima) because she didn't want to wear a veil and openly stated that she doesn't respect the prophet muhammed wich resulted in thousands of protests who and i quote a protestor "she should be hanged, she diserves every inch of hell!". As someone else allready stated, their are countries out their wich any form of christianity is forbidden, including building churches or even reading a bible. In Iran, the Parsis are still being persecuted, and the Sikhs in Pakistan. Human rights are still being violated in many of the countries because they uphold quranic and hadith rules in punishment for adulatry and theft. Saudi still has public beheadings on it's market squares. Syria openly supports Islamic terrorist groups like Hamaz and Hezbollah whom they know kill israeli children and women and bring no progress in their situation. Too me, It doesn't sound secular at all. These laws are not just represented by a large body of muslims but by the state ! |
