its a dispute between the religion and the heretic not a rivalry that we're creating here.
we're talking facts, arguments and theology not propaganda.
Islam says things we don't agree on, doesn't mean we need to accept it merely because differences in opinions are dangerous to you. While debating creates understanding of both's positions and imo is to be persued more then silence. Their couldn't be enough critique and ridicule on religion... if i deny the right that people ridicule my faith, then i don't have the right to ridicule other people's believes or non believes with my opinions.
we cannot both be right. That's what these apologetics are about.
Yet if the topic of atrocities arise, i do not see why we should stop pointing fingers... the atheists did it with the christians under the cloak of freedom of speech, in a same way a christian may have his opinion about islam, and islam his about christianity.
In a freedom of speech society no man should be restrained, as do i believe Gerani that you miss out on getting the overlapping theological differences... what happend in the OT is a historical event, a one time occurance, revelation in the bible is progressively revealed... while what happend in the Quran is alltough a historical event, a book for all time, revelation in the quran is a consistancy from beginning to the end no new revalation will self explain an older one. I'm not even mentioning the Hadith's commandments for punishments.
And the catholic church has atrocities on it's name, as do many pastors have taken abuse of their power... their is no denying that. Yet no body of church is proud of that, not the catholic church not the protestant ministers about the sins the church is carrying. Neither is anyone who sins still a christian, so you could debate the nature of their actions to be christian. As where the crusades an answer to a muslim uprising in Israel at that time.
Now the difference with muslim atrocities is that each and every muslim is proud of the conquests and brutal slayings of muhammed and the four caliphs. That many of them if not the middle eastern majority silently apploud the death of jews and americans. That extremism of islam is rising at a monsterous rate everywhere in the world. That 28 of the 30 conflicts in the world are muslim related. That the greatest human rights violations are in muslim countries. Islam is a problem of this day and age...
In the enlightment period the countries couldn't get secularized and seperated from religion fast enough. That NOW? we need to close our eyes and tolerate the intolerance of islamic religious states or beliefs? Voltaire must be rolling around in his grave. This is not the best of all worlds, it CAN get better if you are willing to shake the disease! within the system ! not with violence!
