Christian/Muslim ThreadsAre there elements of paganism in the religion of Islam? The black stone has nothing to do with divinity. It is not divine nor has a divine origin. Also the hadith you posted completely showed that Allah had nothing to do with the black stone or any relation. It was not recognized as Allah or being linked the Creator. In Islamic tradition the black stone was a sign from Allah to Ibraheem from heaven showing him the location of the Ka'abah which was rebuilt by him and his son Ishmael. The black stone was placed at the corner of the Ka'abah as a marker to count the correct amount of times (7) one makes tawwaf or circumbulation around the sacred house. Muhammad (s.a.w.) kissing the stone had nothing to do with worshiping it just as much as kissing any material object depending on the intention behind it. The Prophet was against any type of idolotry which is condemned serverely in the Quran. There was a sentimental value to it as it was ancestral to his for father Ibraheem. |
