You can very well live without air, as long as you get oxygen, and hey, who knows scientists can think of some way to keep you alive without oxygen even. So it is not 100% true.
Don't you have sayings in english? The execption confirms the rule is a saying.. a dutch saying. Had absolutely nothing (!) to do with science.
Sitting here, in my chair, typing, and take away my air or my breath and I will die. Period. There is no advanced medical equipment here...
And why use a 'saying' which is demonstrably false, especially in a science discussion? You were trying to use it scientifically and I don't care what sayings who has, if they are nonsensical, as that one is, then they are not worth repeating.
