Muslim & Christian Discussion ForumHave you ever read the Bible for yourself? :: Re: Have you ever read the Bible for yourself?Good question, and its one that my minds been grasping with back and forth for quite sometime. To start off with this, I do believe that the Quran and The Bible go together message wise, serve none but God, patiently persevere and through faith and actions you are made whole. I believe that the crucifixion as well as the ressurection do not contradict the Quran, however Jesus been placed on the right hand of God I will only take that as far as been symbolical, I've always had an interest in Jesus the Christ and an emotional attatchment to the crucifixion, Christ is a perfect example of Submission to God, when he teaches the disciples to pray 'not my will, but thy will' thats symbolically speaking crucifing your self (desires) and bowing down to God. A beter example is when Jesus is praying to God in the garden that this fate pass if God so wills, thus he loved God so much that he died for him. I dont really care to much about a literal interperatation as to whether or not the Christ was crucified or not in actuallity because if this is true it does nothing more than add an interesting fact to a closet of knowledge thats opened once in a while. I feel that a literal interperatation of the bible leaves us only exploring one side of self, yet Christ told us to love God with all our heart, mind, body and soul so we must use these faculties as well to understand God's word. However, the meaning of the story is a beatuiful one and as Jesus stated who ever is to follow after him must take up thier own cross, we must face our responsibilities and carry our own burdens something I am constantly struggling with. pz |
