I must before off, that we have neither evidence to suggest who wrote the Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Gospels nor when, nor where they were written. The Absence, in one Gospels, as well as the plethora of disagreements to be found among them, suggest that they were written by unconnected persons, many years after the events they pretend to relate, each author formulating his own story from oral traditions handed down over the years, oral traditions handed down over the years, Oral traditions changed slightly in each retelling, here are number of cases in point:
1. The Story of the angel announcing the immaculate conception is not even mentioned in the books ascribed to Mark and John.
2. In Matthew, the angel appears to Joseph; however in Luke, the Angel appeared to Mary.
3. The story of herod destroying all the children under two years old includes the escape of baby jesus into egypt after his parents wre altered by an angel. John the baptist was under tow years of age at this time, but he was not killed by Herod's soldiers (who were proficient at carrying out orders and not likely to carelessly overlook any infants they had been ordered to destroy, no matter how well they were hidden). On this point the story perjures itself.
4 AS Short and simple as it was, no two Gospel authors agree on what was written on the sign above Jesus head when he was crucified.
a) Mark: The King of the Jews
b) Luke: This is the King of the Jews
c) John: Jesus of Nazerth, King of the Jews
d) Matthew: This is Jesus, The King of The Jews.
This point alone shows that the authors of the several Gospels were not all present at the scene or they would have at least gotten this one, very short, very simple part of the story straightt.
5 The Gospel of John contradicts that of Mark as to who carried Jesus cross.
a) John 19:17 says, "They took Jesus therefore; and he went out BEARING HIS OWN CROSS, to the place called the Place of the skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha."
b) Mark 15:21 says. "And they pressed into service a passer by coming from the country, SIMON of CYRENE (the father of Alexander and Rufus), that HE MIGHT BEAR HIS CROSS."
6) Matthew 27:62 states that the nexy day after the body of Chirst was put in the tomb by friends (1 full night had passed), the cheif priests and Pharisees gathered toghether with Pilate and after this, a guard and seal were put on the tomb. The other Gospels, however, make no Mention of Any Guard or seal.
7) Which Gospel author is to be believed regarding what or who was seen at the tomb?
a) Matthew says an angel came from heaven and rolled back the stone from the tomb, and sat on it.
b) Mark says a young man was within the tomb siting on the right side
c) Luke says there were two angels, both STANDING up
d) John says there were two Angels, both SITTING down
These points are importance only if the TRUTH of the resurrection story is important. If these four accounts were presented in a court of law as legal testimony, someone would be liable for perjury, Is this the divinely inspired, unchangeable word of God? Think carefully!
