Hi Omega
Well I am back been away for a while.
Anyway intresting post.
The title Mother of God goes back to the year 431. At the Ecumenical Council of Ephesus, it was determined that Mary could be called the Mother of God (Theotokos in Greek) instead of just the Mother of Christ (Christotokos) as the theologian Nestorius contended.
The thinking went thus: Granted as a human being, mary can't be the origin of a divine person. Only gods and goddesses can make other gods.
But Mary is the Mother of Jesus, he wasnt born in parts, he was born as one divine person. One divine person lived inside Marys womb for 9 months and was born.
Even though Mary didnt give Jesus his divine nature, she did give birth to the second person in the trinity. So even though she was a creature and not a creator, because she did give birth to the Son of God, and because she is the Mother of the Son of God who is also God, she can be called the Mother of God.
