<i>"This last post just shows your ignorance of the countries history and our Consitution. The Supreme Court of the United States is made up of 9 appointed not elected judges who can be removed from office by the Congress of the United States by impeaching them. In fact the number of judges who sit on the Court is not mandated in the Constitution. "</i>
I'm know how the supreme judges are appointed, I didn't mean to use the term "elect." You usually use the phrase "appointed for life" because it's true in a sense that it is possible for them to serve until retirement.
<i>"This is the preamble of the Consitution of the United States. It is the people who give the government authority over them, not the other way around. "</i>
And the people were smart enough to give the government the power ot override popular opinion in the instances where it becomes wrong. That's what the MA court has done. They've struck down a law that recieved popular support because they deemed it unconstitutional.
<i>"What you are proposing is government by special interest groups, which is not a democracy. If you want to live in a dictatorship I can think of several countries where you can find a government by special interest groups and I doubt you will like living in them. "</i>
I'm not suggesting any such thing. There is a huge difference between a dictatorship and simple failsafes to protect the minority. You know this.
<i>"So who is going to protect the majority from the anarchy and tyranny of the minority?"</i>
Tyranny of the minority? Just how is the majority being disenfracnhised or oppressed by the minority? When the situation becomes a state worthy of the connetations of the word "anarchy," and not simply a group of people celbrating their new marriages, then you can ask that question again.
