Archivedpredestination questions..... *thinking* ....... Ok, I've thought about it. But I still fail to see how God knowing what we will do translates into Him making the choices for us. Let me use an analogy (and I'll admit right off that it's not a great one because I am not God). I have a cat. Every morning when I get up, I put some fresh food in her food dish. I know that when she hears me doing this, she will come running to eat, or at least to check out what I'm doing. So, essentially, I know what she will do before she does it. Does my cat not have the ability to chose otherwise? Have I eliminated her "free will"? No. Even though I have put her in a situation where I know how she will react, she still has the choice to either come and eat or stay where she is and ignore me. This is evidenced by the fact that every once in a while she indeed does chose to ignore me. The same is true with God. Just because He puts me in a situation where He knows how I will react, it does not mean that He has eliminated all other options and denied my free will by making the choice for me. It's still me making the choices that I make. Ok....... but right before you said that, you posted this: So you've got a verse saying "God predestined" but then you say you don't believe in predestination? Don't you believe the Bible? Please explain. Aineo, what is your explanation of Romans 9:21 & 22?
This is only true if free will is eliminated, and I have continually debated that belief in election and predestination does not necessitate a non-belief in free will. Yet you continue to claim that it does. Instead of just branding me as someone who believes what you are claiming I believe because it's easier for you to refute, why don't you just try to understand what I am telling you that I believe. Free Will and Predestination can, and do, coexist. |
