The point here is that standards were NOT as rigorously applied in the past regarding medical science. Keep in mind that that PARTICULAR branch is a rather contentious one because there are far more variables and lack of understanding than most branches of science.
Homosexuality was assumed a disorder, with no supporting evidence put forward to justify it's placement there. If there IS, then by all means present it. If you are going to take the position that it shouldn't have been removed because of the METHOD of removal, then you are not really making an argument against it's validity as a disorder. You are arguing the politics involved.
That's a different issue. I don't give a flying fig WHAT the politics were. I'm going straight to the nitty gritty. Did it DESERVE to be there in the first place? If there was no scientific basis for it, then the answer is no. Sorry, but that's the simple truth.
If you want it placed back IN, then you should be the one presenting evidence for it's distinction as a disorder. Without it, you have no valid point.
