Answer: Religion and pseudoscience
Thanks to the "activism" of religion, any scientist even open to the idea of examining homosexuality in an unbiased light would have been burned at the stake in the early days.
Gay rights groups simply made enough of a public stink to engender change. This IS the way of the world. If you don't stand up and make noise, people don't hear you. Out of sight, out of mind.
I get tired of people complaining about these "gay activists". It's a red herring. Their problem isn't with the activism. Their problem is with the message of the activism. But instead of actually rebutting the arguments and challenges being put forward, they attack the method they use to get attention. It's cowardly.
So what you are saying is psychiatry is a pseudoscience? Homosexuality is a behavior that even some atheists find "abnormal".
Freud did not do that. In fact, Freud was adamantly opposed to Christianity. Freud taught that religious doctrines are all illusions and that religion is "the universal obsessional neurosis of humanity."

Before you make broad generalities concerning psychology and psychiatry I suggest you study the roots of both disciplines.
BTW, any further one-on-ones with me will be offsite.
