ArchivedOk. Hoping to educate through reasonActually psychiatry is very different from other fields of medicine, and there are sometimes strong arguments made against it being included as a scientifc discipline, but that's besides the point. I was referring to older periods, and they had no objective, verifiable evidence showing that homosexuality is a "disorder". It was simply assumed to be because of the hostility it engendered and it's apparent "rarity". Of course it's not hard to figure why people hid it. You don't have to be religious to find something abnormal. If it's not something you understand, then it's abnormal to YOU. I think it's abnormal to jump off cliffs with bungee chords. I can't understand it, and would never desire to do it. I don't think people are evil for doing it though, just strange. What was that quote from Freud supposed to mean? He was talking about religion. Did you miss a portion of it referring to homosexuality? Is this in reference to me or the other poster and your personal situation? I haven't been discussing that. I'm assuming so. All posts that answer people are one on one's by the nature of webboards, so it's pretty hard to avoid if you choose to reply. *sigh*. I'm all for backing up your argument, but is it REALLY necessary to have to do so for things that everyone knows is a given? It's simply time consuming. Recall the stink of the Ten Commandments being taken out of the courtrooms? Remember all the protesters on the religious side? Recall seeing religious people out picketing abortion clinics? Calling down brimstone on poor young women going in the doors? Signs like "God will punish you"? I mean come on. It's not difficult to find examples. This is just a waste of time. You know very well religious groups have been activists themselves. No of course not ALL of them, but then not ALL of gays go out and picket. |
