Ptolemy, you have filled post after post on the Torah. If you want to discuss Sodom then stick to truth, not how some people interpret one verse out of Scripture. The account of the destruction of Sodom starts in Genesis 18, where God has already determined the fate of the cities. So Genesis 19:5 is not the reason for its destruction. Further more Ez 16:49-50 gives God's explanation for the destruction of those cities.
The destruction of Sodom had NOTHING TO DO WITH HOMOSEXUALITY. The abominations committed in those cities were the result of not because of arrogance, sloth, abundance of material things, and they did not help the poor.
You cannot say with any certainty that of the abominations committed in Sodom male/male sex was not one of them. Leviticus 18:22 does not use the word homosexual it describes the act. Leviticus labels the act an abomination not the people.
What does God label abominable in His word? This can be answered in one word - sin.
Revelation 21:7-8 includes immoral in the list of those destined for the lake of fire. How does God define immoral?
I can empathize with your frustration at how so many "Christians" treat the gay community. Straight immorality is winked at by the church and even subtly promoted by some by how they organize new members, singles groups, and encourage multiple marriages after multiple divorces.
Over the past 5 years, ever since I got my first computer, I have spent a lot of time on Christian message boards promoting the treatment of the gay community with love, compassion, understanding, and in accord with Biblical truth. Now you have come along and revived a lot of the old issues that it took me months to overcome not only on this board but others.
Acts 15 released gentile Christians from the Law, so to continue to bring up the Law is a waste of time. However Acts 15 still states we should refrain from “fornication”. Revelation 21:7-8 tells us that the immoral will find their part in the lake of fire.
I have asked you two questions. One is explain Revelation 21:7-8, and you targeted one word in those two verses "abomination" and ignored the rest. The other question was since God gives us instructions for righteous behavior where are His instructions for same gender sexual relationships.
The bottom line is who defines sin, what does immoral mean in God’s mind, and where are His instructions for gay sexual relationships in His word. So there are three questions that you need to answer for yourself. If your only concern is to justify your emotions you don't need to post rants on this message board all you need to do is accept what you believe and live your life. If on the other hand you are looking for God's truth answer those 3 questions.
