ArchivedIt is against true Christianity to force moralitTaking a stand for a moral society is not forcing Christian morality down the throats of anyone. We live in a Constitutional democracy where all citizens can partake in the democratic process. I will vote my beliefs and take a public stand for what I believe. As Christian's we already live in God's kingdom and as such should conduct ourselves accordingly, which means we take an active role in passing laws that will protect our children and what they are exposed to. If heterosexual Christians had taken a stance for morality in the last century abortion, no fault divorce, and other social ills that plague this nation would never have happened. As an ex-gay man I support equal rights for all Americans but oppose special rights and redefining marriage and family for 3% of the population. I am a bit suprised you have such a jaundiced view of life and our mandate from our Lord. Jesus did not judge anyone except the Pharisees however He also said: "go and sin no more". How are people going to hear the gospel in a society that will not take a stand for God's truth? As Christian's we are not called to force our beliefs on anyone but we are called to make righteous decisions and oppsing gay unions is just that; a righteous decision. |
