Archivedopen mindedIt should make you think that a religion should not be ultimately judged on its followers, but its essential teachings. Christianity teaches to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. It's futile to attempt the bashing of Christianity by bringing up the sinful actions of those who call themselves Christians. Christ Himself says there will be "wolves in sheep's clothing." Those Gentiles in the Old Testament believed in God though they were not Jews nor followed the Jewish law. Making the statement you just made is no different from saying "How were Jews in the old Testament saved?" Those who are saved are saved the same way.......through the blood of Christ. If you lived during the Old Testament and followed God, you are saved by the promise of the Messiah. If you lived during the time of Christ and followed God, you are saved by the upcoming death of the Messiah. And if you live after the death of the Messiah and follow God, you look back on it, and you are saved by it. By also bringing up that passage, you also show that men are without excuse seeing that the conscience bears witness. |
