David was one of the few in the old testament and even now that had tapped into the heart of God. He knew that animal sacrifice was not what brought pleasure to God.
For David discovered that God wanted a place to lay His head. A place where He could be at ease.
And David's greatest desire was to build God a house for Him to dwell in.
God's heart (what He really wants) is to to find a place where He can be at rest. He's still looking for it in each of us. Just a place where He can be comfortable. A place where He's welcomed. A place where He says, I like it here; No complaining; no unthankfulness; no doubting. They just love me for who I am, not for the things I do or can do...they just love me for me. And I want to stay here.
David tapped into this.
David knew.................. and His mercy is everlasting and endures forever - - - wherever He can find rest.
PS. Praise at best is thanking God for the THINGS He does for you.
But Worship is a step beyond Praise. Worship is thanking God for being God without even bringing up the things. You're saying "I love you Lord for being you". I'm in love with you.
PSS. Many people know the written word of God. Many in this forum. They know His mind. But they don't know His heart. They know that He said it...but don't know why.
PSSS. Many know there was a Calvary. They know He said: "for God so loved the world". They just don't know why.
They know with, almost, perfection the words of God by memorization. But they do not know Him. And the depth or your love of God is based upon by how much you know Him. Not quote Him.
Jesus wants a place where He can rest.........and not have to keep working. The Old Testament Tabernacle was a place where no one could sit. No chairs. No rest. Only work.
It was a work that began after Adam sinned where God had to step out of the "and He rested on the seventh day". And the Lord never sat again until Calvary where He finished a work. Now He seeks a place where He might - rest again.
You are a work in progress. But can He ever find rest there.
Jesus tells you to be born again. He requires "let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus". He has asked you to repent, be filled with His Spirit. He commands baptism. He says love one another. He says be at peace, have control of your mind and emotions. Jesus says "learn of me". But why all this you're asking? Why is it so important you wonder? He told Nicodemus you must be born of water and spirit. No doubt Nicodemus wondered why - like you might be.
But you have to understand...........He still looks for a place... where He might lay Himself and find rest.
