ArchivedWhat did Jesus say before he died?????
First the Gospel was never lost as Muslims wish to believe. Matthew, Mark, John, and Luke wrote about the Gospel. What does all 4 books talk about? Who is the center of the books. Jesus and his life. Everything in red is the Gospel that "Jesus went about all Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, ". They all 4 tell the story of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection and proclaim the good news of God's victory over the powers of sin and death. The gospel message was preserved in oral form for many years before being written down. The stories are from 4 different people, Matthew and John was an eye witness's to the accounts. Not hear say. They all are accounts of the same thing but each person would see events differently, some would see something the other did not see and write it down while another would not write it down. Matthew was one of the first twelve disciples of Jesus (Matthew 9:1; 10:1-4) and therefore an eye-witness; he records more of Jesus' teaching concerning God's heavenly kingdom than the other writers, for example the entire Sermon on the Mount. Mark was Peter's son (I Peter 5:13, possibly spiritual son), who wrote down what Peter said about who Jesus was, what He did, where He went and what happened. So Mark later wrote it down. Luke was a doctor and a co-worker with Paul (Colossians 4:14; Philemon v24). Because some spurious stories about Jesus were circulating, Luke decided to interview local people who had followed Jesus closely. Luke collated all the interviews into a single account, recording details not mentioned elsewhere, for example regarding the conception and birth of Jesus and Mary's extended family, as you might expect of a doctor. John was one of the first twelve disciples of Jesus and therefore an eye-witness (John 19:35); John brings out the spiritual significance as well as recording the practical aspects of Jesus' works and words. John lived to be older than any of the other writers. It is therefore likely that he was familiar with their accounts and wanted to supplement theirs with additional teaching and miracles by Jesus which had a bearing on the situation towards the end of the first century AD. Matthew and Mark simply state that Jesus gave a cry right before his death, but do not record the words Matthew 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. Mark 15:37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. Luke has Jesus saying "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit" Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. John makes Jesus last words to be "It is finished" John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John was the eye witness to the account, Luke was not. John's Gospel was the last recorded. Though they both could be right "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit" And then Jesus cried with a loud voice "It is finished" and Jesus yielded up the ghost. And if they was 100% the same you would be playing the other side of it. How can they say the same thing when they are written by 4 different people? They match word for word. Ask Him! |
