ArchivedEleven questions and excuses. The "ex-ex's" I know are extraordinary people, all of whom "sought to be transformed" for many years. Ultimately, they came to the conclusion God wasn't granting that prayer because it was not His will for them. To borrow a citation from one of them: "Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:7-11) They just had stop praying for stones and serpents. They had to stop praying for God to take away the gift of their sexuality, because what God wanted for them was the love and happiness they'd have with their partners. That's what they believe, at least. No. God is omnipotent. God is the one who makes the rules and sets the penalties. God is the man with the gun. And we're the people who, for whatever reason, don't do what he says. Bang! Who's responsible? To the first, yes... although I won't claim any large degree of expertise. To the second... I've heard several contradictory theories as to his nature. Skeptic that I am, I see no reason to believe he's anything other than human - and deceased. |
