ArchivedDebate centers on Bible InterpretationsWell, in the New Testament Paul preaches to the gentiles that homosexuality is wrong. So this does not only apply to the Jews. The Ten Commandments were first given to the Jews, so are you going to tell me that it is no longer applied to today? So it's O.K. for people to go around killing and committing adultery now as long as they're not Jewish? You're not being realistic. Homosexuality is being condemned by society today also. And you were wrong to begin with. Homosexuality, in "context" was condemned because God made it an abomination. It had nothing to do with man condemning it when you look at things in the "context" of scripture. So you are saying every interpretation of scripture is compimising? The only way you can interpret scripture in the positive sense is by all the options you just listed(literally, metaphorically, in context). Comprimising scripture has nothing to do with these three. Comprimising scripture means you go into the scriptures with your mind set on an opinion already, and you pick out a verse to support your opinion when in fact, there is nothing in the bible that allows what you are trying to support. If you are a supporter of homosexuality, you are most likely going to alter the meaning of scripture to prove your point, when scripture clearly opposes homosexuality. That's comprimising! |
