I've recently come upon a whole mess of atheist literature and found it very convincing. But I'm not sure I'm ready to fully give up the idea of God just yet. In my own esoteric way, it's hard for me not to believe in God, the universe being so incredibly beautifull. So I thought an experiment was in order.
Many times the Bible claims that all I need to do is ask, and without a doubt I will receive. Corinthians, I believe, says that when two or more people gather together in agreement, what they ask shall be granted, whatever it is. God has spoken, and I intend to take him up on this.
So, I ask you, Christians, to join with me in prayer. If God is truly omnipotent, and truly means what he says in the BIble, then we should not hesitate to ask for something big. Lets sincerly pray for true world peace by the end of next week. This is God. He should have no problem with it. If you promise to prayer abjectly and honestly, so do I. Let's beg him to do what he promised he will.
Here is what I will say.
Dear God,
Please, because only you have the power to do so, will you please, please bring peace to the entire human race this week? We ask this of you in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit, amen.
Now I know the Bible also says, "Thou shall not tempt the lord", but praying is tempting, so I'll just assume that was a mistake on God's part. He should answer this prayer like he promises he will. It's perfectly selfless and should be right up his stree.
