Trinity Debate1 Corinthians 8:4-6Googles has tried to force exegetical interpretations on specific verses by first taking them out of context and then assuming that certain titles like "lord" are reserved only for God. However when we put verse 6 in context Paul's teaching concerns our freedom in Christ to eat meat that was sacrificied to idols because there is no God but one (vs. 4). Paul then writes that for Christians there is but one God, the Father who created all things and we as Christians exist for Him and one Lord (men of authority) Jesus Christ by whom are all things for Christians and we exist (live) through Him since the Lord is the Head of the congregation (ekklesia), see Ephesians 1:22-23, 5:23, and Colossian 1:18. |
