I posted this at my blog and have not gotten any replies from creationists. I am interested in what they will say to it, so I'll put the relevant part of the post here.
We have 23 pairs of chromosomes, but all other great apes, which are our closest cousins, have 24. This could easilly be a fatal blow to evolution, for there are only two ways that a species can have less chromosomes than it's cousins. One is for one to simply dissapear, but this couldn't be, because then that animal would be dead. So, there is only way for us to have less chromosomes then our cousins. They must have fused. If we look at all our chromosomes and all a chimps chromosomes and don't see two of theirs in one of ours then evolution is false. The chances of this just happening by chance are so small that, if we do find it, then it would prove evolution beyond a doubt. Lo and behold, we found it. Our Chromosome 2 corresponds with chimps' 2 (I think) and 3. But wait, there's more! At the end of chromosomes there's sequences of DNA called Telomeres. If two chromosomes fused, we would expect it to have four telomeres instead of two, but two of these would be in the middle of the chromosome. Amazingly, this is what we find. For those of you who say that it's either the Bible or evolution (or neither), then I guess the Bible is the new paperweight to boot.
