believe, confess, and repent. That is all there is to it.
Romans 10
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed
John 3:
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
This is what Jesus had to say. I was raised that water baptism is not need to go the Heaven. That baptism is the outward show of your inward faith. I now am not so sure. I have been baptised so personally it doesn't matter to me that much. I will however, encourage those who aren't to do so if for no other reason than to be sure.
That being said, no one can be born again as babies and the baptism of babies are of no effect for the simple fact that you must be born of the Spirit first. Babies are not capable of making this decision. It is a choice and decision that WE have to make for ourselves, to ask Jesus into our hearts, not our parents.
I believe that there is an age of accountablity, there is an age when we are responsible for our own action. When this happens then we are also old enough to make such a decision for ourselves.
We do not need to have a priest pray or to enter the throne for us. We are able to "walk boldly" into the Throne of God. Jesus is our High Priest, not man and definantly not a dead woman or dead saints. That is simply not biblical.
