Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesIs not this more than just personal relationship ?However, when Jesus held the bread He was not holding a piece of His flesh and common sense as well as Greek grammar demonstrates that the elements are symbols not the real body of the Lord. Transubstantiation is a pagan belief imported into Catholicism. You cannot show by anything other than Catholic/Orthodox tradition that the apostles believed or taught transubstantiation, which violates God's revealed truth since God through the Holy Spirit forbids eating blood in both the OT and the NT. Faith in Catholicism will not save you or anyone.[/quote When Jesus came into the world He was in the form of helpless baby, not like God, yet He is God (who is Spirit and has no flesh). Similarly, the bread that Jesus gives us is in the form of bread, yet it is His flesh. Why? because, Jesus said, so (This is my body). It is not common sense, it is faith. In John 6:51 Jesus, said, the bread that I give you is my flesh". Christians of all denomination (not just Cahtolics) for the first 1500 believed that. This is what it means to have faith. It is faith that saves us. |
