We have been told to be baptized. The disciples baptized. Should we follow the examples given to us? Yes.
The gospel testifies of baptism, and we are to obey the gospel.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not questioning the command to be Baptised.
In fact, I believe Baptism is necessary.
But I don't think it can be shown scripturally that Baptism is the
first step in following Christ.
However it is
a step in following Christ.
Another point, when did Paul get baptised?
In Acts, both Paul and Cornelius get Baptised
After receiving the Holy Spirit.
But it is true that in both cases being Baptised was the
first thing that they did once they had become
Spirit Filled Christians.
