Buddha, Hinduism, Mithraism, Baha'i, & etc.Hindus GodBut has Hinduism really survived for over 8,000 years?
Hinduism today is nothing like the Hinduism of 3,000 years ago.
Hinduism today is a mixture of Dravidian and Aryan beliefs.
The oldest Hindu scriptures are Aryan scriptures, but the most popular Hindu gods today are Dravidian.
Indra was one of the most important gods of the vedas, but today the Dravidian gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are favoured.
So when you say Hinduism is the oldest surviving religion, what to you mean by Hinduism?
Do you mean Dravidianism, Aryanism, or both?
Dravidianism and Aryanism didn't get off to a good start when they were introduced to eachother 2,000 years ago. The Dravidians were conquered by the Aryans.
Maybe I'm just rambling, but it seems to me that the Hindusim of 8,000 years ago and the Hinduism of today are just different religions under the same name.
