ArchivedMarytuppence Wrote: Thats because the bible doesnt contain everything. Prove it does. I already mentioned this in my previous post. You are reading the bible in english (obviously) not its original language. tuppence Wrote: I already spoke about Mary not having any children besides Chirst, and I asked a few questions and gave a few points that you have not made a comment on. This is typical in Protestant v Catholic debates, well on this forum anyway. tuppence Wrote: I never said that, did I? tuppence Wrote: This is intresting, you are saying when it says ALL it doesnt mean ALL? And I see Aieno must be in agreemewnt with you as he has not commented on this. Yet I had this very same discussion with a member on this forum called Scorpian, he stated that when the bible said ALL it ment ALL, every single person HAS SINNED! and Aieno also agreed to his statment! So what interpretation shall I accept? obviously Aieno has accepted both. tuppence Wrote:
This is your opinion, or your personal interpretation? tuppence Wrote: Well the bible might not say anything but then again the bible is not the only rule of faith. I asked Aieno to show me from the bible where it (the bible) says it was. But he failed yet again to prove his point. Couldnt God have saved Mary from original sin? Are you limiting God? tuppence Wrote: Is not Mary in heaven? Because as you are about to state John is known as the disciple Jesus loved. Where was Peter durring the crucifixion? tuppence Wrote: You said it Tradition, you do not believe in tradition so why are you quoting it? I have met a number of Protestants who only quote tradition when it supports there theorys. But when tradition goes against what you believe, you are quick to say "traditions of men" Answer me from the bible as it is your only rule of faith. I should be the one using tradition to support my claims but I am not as you guys believe only in Sola Scripture. While on the Cross, Jesus gave Mary into the care of St. John, telling them to regard one another as mother and son (Jn 19:26-27). Christ would not have done this unless she had no other sons to provide for her. So here is the question again. Why did Jesus do this if Mary had other children? tuppence Wrote: Every single Christrian I know, Protestant and Catholics alike believe Chirst died at the age of 33. The rest of the above is just not worth commenting on. Do you know that 2,000 years ago the age of a 20-25 year old was not considered young like today. You are speaking as if the bible was written in english and as if Christ lived in todays world, wake up. tuppence Wrote: You are reading the bible in english. There is no word in hebrew, Aramaic or even arabic for cousin, and I stated that these "brethren" were most likey Jesus Christs cousins. The Bible nowhere calls these "brethren" children of Mary and Joseph. Jesus alone is called "the Son of Mary" (Mark 6:3), a phrase which in that culture denoted the only child of a widow. And Mary is always called simply "the mother of Jesus", never "the mother of Jesus, James, Joses, Simon, Judas and their sisters" or anything like that. While we hold Mary in high honour, you always try to find things to degrade her purity and sinless life. Aieno Wrote: I will ask you again, show me from the bible that the bible is the only rule of faith. Aieno Wrote: I dont seem confused, I know EXACTLY what I believe unlike some people. Aieno Wrote: We both believe Christ gave his mother to John, my question is why? Aieno wrote: The first insight regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given by the Church Fathers was the vision of Mary as the New Eve. The earliest patristic texts regarding the Eve-Mary parallel begin in the later half of the Second Century. Elizabeth greets Mary the same way the Ark of the Covenant was greeted. The entrance of the Ark and the entrance of Mary are seen then as blessing an entire household. Like Obededom's household was blessed, so Elizabeth sees her household as blessed. David and both Elizabeth react with awe, "How shall the Ark of the Lord come to me?" David says in 2nd Samuel, 6:9. And likewise Elizabeth says, "Why should the Mother of the Lord come to me?" The Ark of the Covenant and the Mother of our Lord. Then finally, the Ark of the Covenant and Mary both remain in the respective houses for three months, 2nd Samuel 6:11 and Luke 1:56. I could go on, but whats the point? Aieno Wrote: verse eight of the twenty-fifth chapter of Exodus, "Let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle..." Come down to verse seventeen: "Thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold... and the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee." Now, verse twenty-two says, "There will I meet with thee." Was not God in the womb of the Virgin? 1 Samuel 6:19 But God struck down some of the men of Beth Shemesh, putting seventy of them to death because they had looked into the ark of the Lord. The people mourned because of the heavy blow the Lord had dealt them. What was more important to the Lord, his ark of the old covenant or His mother? The Ark of the Covenant was an embodiment of God's presence, as was Mary, the ark of the new covenant. Aieno Wrote: yet again, I did not say Joesph had other children. tuppence Wrote:
Well done, you have read the bible from front to back, cover to cover and a number of translations too! BUT did you understand it? obviously not. Yes it sure is a pity that you dont recognize the Pope, but oh well thats life. Aieno Wrote: I do realize that it is a possibilty, what makes you say I dont? Really? Well the personal mail I am recieving from Catholics dont seem to agree with you on that remark. 8) Peace |
