ArchivedDemonology from a Christian basisI find this a trite hard to believe. Afterall, when a sinner comes to repent and confess his/her sins and finally realizes and accepts Christ into their heart, they are indwelt by the living Spirit of Christ Jesus. Now, why would Christ want to share space with some demon in a human's body? Especially if it is a body of one who He is the temple of. We can be hassled a lot by demons and satan, but I find it hard to believe that a human body with the living Spirit of Christ can also contain a spirit of Satan; doesn't make sense. Maybe you're mixing up possession with opression/influence. A demon having possession is a demon having direct controls of a person's thoughts and actions (Luke 4:33-35; 8:27-33; Matt 17:14-18 ). This is FAR different from oppression/influence where a demon attacks a person spiritually and can influence them into some kind of sin. With the blood of Christ, we are made new. God sent His son to die, for us, and He purchased us with His sons own blood. Though, as Christians, we constantly battle with Satan and his demon. “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 |
