Quran and Bible debateWhat the Quran says about the Holy BibleAre you sure, its totally from God? According to Kenneth Cragg, a Christian scholar of Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem in page 277 of his book, "The Call of the Minaret" says: "Not so the New Testament... There is condensation and editing; there is choice, reproduction and witness. The Gospels have come through the mind of the Church behind the authors. They represent experience and history." Mmm... what is that about? Let me explain... There are 3 different kinds of witnessing in Bible: 1. The Word of God. For example, " will I raise them up a prophet... and I will put my words in... and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. (Deuteronomy 18:18) 2Words of a Prophet of God. For example, 'Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabacthani?... (Matthew 27: 46) 3. Words of a Historian. For example, "And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he (Jesus) came, if haply he (Jesus) might find anything thereon: and when... (Mark 11:13) The bulk of the Bible is a witnessing of the third kind. These are the words of a third person. Note the bold pronouns. They are not the Words of God or of His prophet, but the WORDS OF HISTORIAN. Do you accept the Bible as God's Word then? It is not a simple black and white answer then... It is often seen that Christian missionaries dupe less-knowledgeable Muslims about the Bible by saying that the Qur'an confirms the Bible and hence Muslims should believe in the Bible. Muslims should remember that the Qur'an attests Torah, Zabur and Injîl as revelations from God given to the Prophet. It does not attest whatever writers of the Old Testament or St. Paul in the New Testament wrote or said. |
