Dear Omega,
OK. I will try one more time. This time I will number the points so it will be easier for you to know if you have responded to a given point.
1. To start with, how can anyone *assume* that "the covenant" in Dan 9:27 refers to a different "the covenant" than the one in Dan 9:4?
2. It is a *fact* that there are several OT Bible verses which say that Jerusalem is a harlot.
3. It is also a *fact* that a Roman general did not make the temple desolate. Jesus made it desolate. Matt 23:38-39 and Matt 24:1 prove that the temple was *already desolate* before the Romans destroyed it.
4. According to Jesus, the prophets all perished at Jerusalem (not Rome).
Luke 13:33-34 (KJV)

general explanation of Dan 9:27
The person referred to as "he" in Dan 9:27 would do three things:
1. confirm "the covenant" (what covenant? The covenant in Dan 9:4!)
2. cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease
3. for (because of) the overspreading of abominations, he shall "make it desolate"
Whoever "he" in Dan 9:27 is, would do all three things. Since we have proven that *Jesus* made their house desolate, that tells us that the "he" in Dan 9:27 is Jesus, Himself!
Jesus will confirm the covenant (of Dan 9:4) for one week. His ministry lasted 3 1/2 years. So He already confirmed the covenant for 1/2 week. In the middle of the week He caused the sacrifice and the oblation to cease by His perfect sacrifice. According to Matt 23:38-39 and Matt 24:1 we know that Jesus made their house desolate. And Jesus will confirm the covenant for the last 3 1/2 years remaining of Daniel's 70th week which will be the 3 1/2 year period of great tribulation.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Dan 9:27 (KJV)

Here are some points that you should try to make:
1. Any Scripture which directly refers to Rome other than "the prince of the people that shall come" in Daniel 9:26.
2. Any OT Scriptures identifying who Gog is.
3. Any connection between Rome and any of the titles of the antichrist.
4. An explanation of why a "revised Roman empire" would hate Rome and attack her.
5. An explanation of Rev 17:10-11 that is not contradictory. (If Rome *is* in Rev 17:10, then Rome is *not* the beast that *was* and *is not*.
Please don't simply repeat what is commonly taught. What is commonly taught is not Scriptural, nor does it make sense, nor is it what we see in the real world. It's time for people to actually read the Bible for themselves and not swallow what the TV preachers and authors of fiction *say* that it says.
The first step would be to give up on the fantasy of a "pretrib rapture". And the second step would be to give up on the erroneous guess that the beast will be a "revised Roman empire".
Yours in Christ,
John Reno
