I'm not so sure that this is true.
- Romans 1:25-27
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
These verses seem to say that natural affections are those that men and women have toward each other, and that other affections (men to men or women to women) are unnatural.

I don't think you can get away with trying to teach children that. "It's ok to be homosexual - just don't practice it." Children will see right through that hypocrisy.
Also, I think using the phrase "turned out to be homosexual" implies that it was inevitable or built into their DNA. Homosexuality is a sinful choice that all Christians should teach against.
The rest of your post, regarding God loving sinners but not sin, is right on target. Praise God that He does love us and that he demonstrated that love for us in that, while we were still sinners, He sent his Son to die for us!
