Christian/Muslim ThreadsWhy Do Muslims Believe The Bible Is Corrupted?Peace illyric0, The word Bible is not mentioned in the Quran at all. We believe in the Injil and the Torah, not the Bible. This injil, is the book that was given to Jesus, while Jesus was on earth. Do you see the difference? Now to explain the different verses: Sura 2:40-42, Verse 40 is speaking to the children of Israel, and their covenant with God. It then goes on to command that they believe in the Quran which is a confirmation of the books that were sent before it (Injil and the Torah). We believe that the Quran is the criterion that should be used. If your book and the Quran agree on certain points, then that is correct (it does not however mean it is divine), and if the Quran disagrees with your book, then your book is in the wrong. Now I'm speaking as a Muslim here, so relax. These verses do not confirm the Bible what so ever as being a divine revelation. 2:126 This verse has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand. 2:136 I'm curious. Are you aware that we Muslims believe in Jesus and what was revealed to him, and the same for other prophets, because this is all the verse says. 2:85 Why on earth did you quote this verse? Do you even know what it says? Or was this a cut and paste job? 3:3 So what? 5:47-51 Reading verse 47 on it's own would prove your point. However, if we read on to verse 48, Allah describes the Quran as the Mohaymin (over the other scriptures), which means: that which testifies the truth and falsifies the falsehood, which has been added. 5:69 Do you believe in Allah? This verse is speaking on those Christians who turned to Allah. 5:72 Why would you quote a verse, which is going against you? 6:91 This verse is actually speaking on how the Torah was corrupted. I've run out of steam, but I can tell you this much, the other verses which you had mentioned do not in anyway claim the divinity of the Bible. And we do. Right… Surah 6:34, uses the term "word", however, in this verse it means decision, and you can understand it if you read the verse. I'll quote it for you: "Verily, (many) Messengers were denied before you (O Muhammad), but with patience they bore the denial, and they were hurt; till Our Help reached them, and none can alter the Words (decision) of Allah. Surely, there has reached you the information (news) about the Messengers (before you)" (6:34) This verse is in regards to the Messengers of God and their hardships not the revelations they had received. 10:34 This verse does not add weight to your argument. You'll fall into difficulty if you do not have the tafsir (explanation) of the Quran. This verse is referring to Prophet Mohammed's description in your book.
