ArchivedErrors in the Bible?Almonte Wrote ? I personally didnt read them all. However there are Scholars who have read them. Scholars refer to three kinds of writings represented in the Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS). A little under 1/3 is made up of biblical texts, containing all the books of the Hebrew Bible in whole or in part, except for Esther. About 1/4 are writings (known and unknown) which were part of the Jewish literary heritage that remained outside the Bible, such as apocryphal books like the Testament of Levi. A third are writings which pertain to the specific beliefs, practices, and membership requirements of a Jewish sect, headquartered at Qumran. An eighth of the fragments are unidentified. Many documents are found in multiple copies, with Isaiah and Psalms appearing most frequently. Almonte Wrote Certainly the Gospel of Barnabas did predict Muhammad, and that is one of the main reasons why his Gospel is not accepted in the Bible community today. It's ironic that Christians don't accept his Gospel as a valid one and accept Paul's instead, when Paul never even met Jesus in person while Barnabas was one of Jesus' disciples. Barnabas only appears among the apostles after the ascension of Jesus to heaven when the early Christian Church was taking root in the land of Palestine. As a gesture of faith and love towards his brethren, he sold a field he owned and gave the proceeds to the apostles for distribution at their discretion to those who were in need among the brethren. This gesture of kindness was a great source of encouragement to the believers and the apostles accordingly named him "Bar-nabas", which means "Son of encouragement". Before this he had been known only by his common name Joseph (Acts 4.36). Here the author of the Gospel of Barnabas makes his first serious mistake for he suggests throughout his book, not only that Barnabas was actually one of the twelve disciples of Jesus during his ministry on earth, but also that he was known by this name "Barnabas" throughout that period of ministry. On more than one occasion in the book we find that Jesus allegedly addressed him by name and the first occasion, which comes particularly early in the book, is this one: Jesus answered: 'Be not sore grieved, Barnabas; for those whom God hath chosen before the creation of the world shall not perish' (The Gospel of Barnabas, p.21). Now we have here a patent anachronism which destroys the possibility that this book was really written by the Apostle Barnabas. The apostles only gave him the name "Barnabas" (Son of encouragement) after the ascension of Jesus because of the generous act he had done which had heartened the spirits of the early Christians. But the Gospel of Barnabas makes Jesus call him by this name some three years before he ascended to heaven. The author of the Gospel of Barnabus, is not the Barnabas that was among the apostels . You say the Gospel of Barnabas predicts the comming of Mohammed, really? Lets take a closer look; Gospel of Barnabas reports Jesus saying: "Jesus confessed and said the truth, 'I am not the Messiah.'" (Chapter 42) "I am sent to the house of Israel as a prophet of salvation, but after me shall come the Messiah, sent of God to all the world..." (Chapter 82) "It is true that God has promised, but indeed I am not he, for he is made before me and shall come after me." (Chapter 96) Jesus is saying in the Gospel of Barnabus that he is not the Messiah! How can you accept a book that states Jesus was not the Messiah? I thought Muslims accept Jesus as the Messiah? I hope these are not the predictions of Mohammed that you are relying on Almonte. Since both Muslims and Christians accept Jesus as the Messiah we must both agree that the book of Barnabas is not inspired. Almonte Wrote Well one of the steps the Church takes to discard books that are not inspired is to actually READ the book, something you obviously havent done, regarding the Gospel of Barnabas. Other steps is they look at the date of the book, and they check to see if it Contradicts any other OT or NT book etc...the Language it was written in, what part of the world it was found in, and so on.
