Omega,
You pointed out the passage in I Corinthinians that speaks to a man having his head covered (vss 3-4). Interestingly, if you look at vs 14 of the same chapter, Paul says: "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" Would you (or anyone, for that matter) care to comment on this verse? I'm not sure of the Greek, or if this is somehow taken out of context, so I'm really just looking for smoe honest feedback on what you think this verse means.
I agree for the most part with what has been said on this thread. It is obviously more important to have your heart right with God than your hair. But DMP raises a HUGE point. It is better to abstain from some things (even though they may be legal under the law) so that the cause of Christ is not negatively affected. Paul addresses this type of issue in I Corinthians 8. Here we have a group of believers who were told not to eat meats offered to idols as a sacrifice, not because the meat itself was sinful, but because the faith of some other Christians was weaker than theirs and it became a stumbling block to them. Something to definitely keep in mind, whenever you are participating in something that is not expressly forbidden in the Scriptures.
