ArchivedHoly Bible versus the OccultChristian apologetics is not offensive but defensive. The job of Christians is not to prove the existance of God by using human logic, but we can defend our faith by using the logic that's being used against us. These methods are used when the non-Christian skeptic does not adhere to the fact that it is the Holy Spirit that ultimately saves a human being. As Christ said: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.[John 3:6-8]. Without getting into deep reasoning, that is how people are going to be saved in the general sense. How can you tell if someone is born of the Spirit? If someone argues against Christianity and says Christ supported cannibalism because He said to eat of His flesh and drink of His blood, that's how you can tell they are born of the flesh and not of the Spirit. Christ many times uses figurative language and even admitted to His desciples that He uses figurative language, which leaves the skeptic of the Bible without excuse when saying "who can interpret it?" The spiritually blind cannot discern what Christ means, when it is obvious from the context. |
