ArchivedAre gay unions Christian? :: Re: outside of godRe: outside of god Where do you get the concept of "murder", "perjury", "charity hospitals", etc.? What is interesting about this push for "civil unions" is the denial of the struggles and sufferings of those who established this nation. We are moving from a nation of laws to a nation being governed by "special interest groups" and appointed judges, not "of the people, by the people, and for the people." The 13th Ammendment to the Constitution abolished slavery, the 19th Ammendment gave women the right to vote; the civil rights legislation of the 60's made segregation illegal and other laws have attempted to eliminate discrimination, which attempted to violate these two ammendments. Our constitutional process has worked for over 200 years, and now those pushing "civil unions" want to deny this process and resort to government of the people by majority opinions of appointed judges not elected representatives. When you view our Constitution in light of the Middle East, you find why this nation has become the greatest nation on the face of the earth. Women have no rights in most Arab nations or in Asia, slavery is still a fact in some Arab nations. The cast system of India is nothing more than slavery based on State religions and the same can be said for Islamic law, which restricts the rights of women; denies free speech and the right to practice any other religion by restricting the right to convert men and women from Islam to any other religion. Those states with "defence of marriage" laws were passed by the elected representatives of the people and the courts do not have the right to void the majority, which by the way is based on more than just the Christian faith. Christians, Muslims, and many atheists oppose gay unions. This is not a religion issue. |
