ArchivedAOL censors emails that oppose gay marriagePlaying devil's advocate is one thing, being ridiculous is another. I published my first ex-gay page using the free web space provided to AOL subscribers. It did not take long for my inbox to be filled with unsolicited emails promoting gay porno sites. When I complained to AOL I was informed they don't censor email content. So I registered my own domain, changed ISP's and now filter my emails using Outlook. I know MSN automatically classifies spam emails as junk and I also know that MSN subcribers can set up criteria to send unsolicited emails to a spam folder and delete them with the click of a mouse. To my knowledge MSN does not refuse emails based on an "offensive" url. 90% of what hits my inbox is personally offensive since I am not interested in Viagra, lubricants, and other product offerings. My sister-in-law told me she gets emails through her AOL account advertising products to increase a certain body part and AOL won't filter those and I know they have gotten substantial subscriber complaints about these advertisements. Now is they can bounce an email with http://www.marriagepoll.com they can bounce one with, well, this is a not a site I will post those url's on. So like I posted subscriber complaints is not the only criteria used by AOL - that dog won't hunt. |
