ArchivedA letter received on Sept 11 2003My brothers at *edited* asked me to respond to your assertion that the Prophet Muhammad [may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] was deceived by satan into believing that he received the word of God by the angel Gabriel.
In order to approach this claim in a logical manner we must go back to a beginning point and establish certain facts.
One of the beautiful aspects of Islam is that it is not based upon ones opinions, dreams, desires, etc. It is built upon a solid foundation of evidences and proofs that if denied, must thus be proved wrong. And to strengthen this point, Allah, Himself, from Whom the Quran and all past Scriptures were authored by and sent down to His chosen messengers, challenges mankind to prove that there are errors or contradictions in His Book. As Allah says [what means in English], "Had this book been from other than Allah, Indeed! there would be contradictions therein". Q5:82 In addition the absolute nature of the Truth of the Quran is again revealed by Allah as HE says; "This is the Book which is beyond any doubt, guidance for those who are conscious of Allah [i.e. God-fearing with piety and righteousness], and who believe in the unseen, establish the prayer and spend out of what we have provided for them, and who believe in what has been revealed to you [O Muhammad] and what was revealed before you, and of the Herea
fter they are certain [in faith]. Those upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is they who are successful." Q2:2-5 Not only do we see the absolute confidence that only God can and does possess, [that His Book is True] we also see that it would be highly unlikely that satan would be calling mankind to worship God by prayer and piety. Rather, Satan calls to what is opposite of piety, morality, dignity, etc., and away from what God has commanded mankind to do, such as taking others as equals to Him, i.e. in claiming He has a son for example
. And Allah's challenge to those who do not believe in what He has sent down to humanity goes still further. Allah told the pagan Arabs who spoke in pure Arabic [not spoken today] and who produced powerful poetry, to produce some verses such as Allah had sent down to Muhammad, [as the language of the Quran is the miracle of the Prophet Muhammad [pbuh],] and Allah says; "And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down to Our servant, then bring forth a single "surah" [chapter] of the like thereof and call your witnesses [and supporters] other than Allah [to help you] if you are truthful: but if you do not and you can never do that, then be cautious and careful of the Fire whose fuel is human beings and stones; which has been prepared for the disbelievers." Q2:23-24 The shortest chapter in the Quran is only 3 verses, yet the Arabs of the time, who were masters of the Arabic language, which does not even exist in its pure form today, could not produce a single verse of such magnitude of that which God se
nt to the His Final Messenger, Muhammad [from whom God's True Religion spread to all of humanity.] "And you can never do that" is another powerful testament to the strength of One upon Whom there is absolute certainty and confidence. Can we say this about the Bibles? I think not because anyone who takes a position that the entire bible [whether it be 66 or 72 books, revised standard with trinity removed or RSV with trinity returned, readers digest version, scofield, KJV, and on, and on and on...is true, without contradictions and from God, would surely not stand unproven. Yet, no man, nor women, nor an entire population, have in 14 centuries proven the Quran to be in error. Not one letter is out of order, and we have the original Arabic to always return to, not relying upon English, as Arabic is the, language God chose to send His Final Scripture in Arabic as Allah says; "A Book whose verses are clear and distinct; A Qur'an in Arabic for the people who have knowledge." Q41:1-3 Two important points are found
in this verse, the first is the proof of the language of the Quran and second, the verses of the Quran are clear and without confusion, not so in the Bible. The Bible is full of confusion such as your assertion that the verse you site is proof that satan deceived the Messenger of Allah. This is an assumption to fit your desire, as there is nothing in the verse that refers to the angel Gabriel nor the Prophet Muhammad. And this is the way with most of biblical assertions; they are tailored to fit the need of the user, while they are frequently not "clear and distinct."
Another very significant point is that we find the name of the Book of Allah within His pure Scripture; "A Quran in Arabic", while the word Bible does not appear in the many books of today's old or new Testaments, and in fact, the word 'bible' refers to a library, or a collection of books which is what we have today in the Scriptures who ascribe to. We as Muslims and believers in the One God, Allah, [the Lord of Mankind, Q1:1] believe in all the Scriptures sent down by Allah to His Messengers, however, we believe in them in their original forms, which [as it is known] are not in their original forms, and we hold to the Last Scripture [Quran] as the Final and Complete Word of God. It is not the Muslims who put forth neither an opinion nor an assumption of the absolute Truth of the Quran it is God Himself, as HE says; "Definitely, We have sent down the Book [Quran] to you [Muhammad pbuh] in Absolute Truth, for the whole of Mankind." Q39:41 I ask you my friend, do any of the 50 or more various Bibles make such
a clear and specific claim?
Now to say that a Messenger of God, a man chosen by God Himself to spread the Word of God [i.e. to worship non but One God and to worship God according to His commands and guidance and not by the ideas of man] could be deceived by satan is saying that God allows His chosen Messengers to go astray. This is a serious claim and position to take before God. Unfortunately, this falsehood and other false claims against God are heresies found in the Bibles. It is said David committed adultery with his neighbor's wife (2Samuel 11:2-26), Lot had committed incest with his daughters while drunk and they became pregnant (Gen. 19:33-36), While Allah says in His Book, the Quran; "And Lot, We gave him right judgment and knowledge. And We admitted him to Our Mercy; truly, he was of the righteous." Q21:74-75 Where would you say is the devils deception in these verses? This pornographic slander is from Satan, for satan does not misguide people to worship God, but he misguides people to "mis" worship God by means invented by
men, such as symbolically drinking Christ's blood, having musical bands rock' in in churches in Sunday mass, lying about Allah's true religion and going in the disguise as Muslims [as some Christian missionaries do in order to deceive Muslims as they cannot approach them with a truthful book nor disprove one verse of the Quran], and all other acts of deceit and deception, not found in God's True Religion Islam. Here is a very poignant example of material that God would never send down nor inspire in His chosen Prophets and Messengers and to believe so is the handy work of Satan, indeed. It is however a natural outcome when people follow other than God and His Messengers established. Here is an expert of an article written by John Brand [see bio below]; My second impulse is to point out to him that we are in deep trouble if the entire Bible is the inerrant word of God. Some of the most lurid stuff is found in the pages of the "Good Book." If the bare metal breast of a lifeless statue offends the Attorney Ge
neral, he would probably have a serious fit if he ever were to read the 23rd Chapter of Ezekiel. The prophet recounts the fact that the tribes of Israel and Judah had not been faithful to God. The following are the supposed inerrant words of God reported in verses 18 - 21.
"When she (Judah) carried on the nakedness, I turned in disgust from her, as I had turned from her sister (Israel). Yet she increased her whorings, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt and lusted after her paramours there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose emission was like that of stallions. Thus you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians fondled your bosom and caressed your young breasts."

There are many examples from the Bibles that reveal that they cannot be the Word of God any longer. What I sighted above is only a tiny fraction. For example, would you not say that God is completely just? Is it possible for the creator of the heavens and the earth to have human emotion like us mortals, whom He created with emotions? How can we give God human attributes? This is a major sin in Islam. How could God be unjust?? But, the bible clearly implies this. "Let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know I am blameless." Job 31:6 And, '.then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me. Though I cry, "I've been wronged!' I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice. Job 19:6-7 To this the believing Muslim would seek refuge in Allah for such tales against God! Another example that cannot be from God at all, and only from one truly deceived, "Then the Lord awoke from sleep, as a man wakes from the stupor of wine. Psalm 78:65 Can you really equate the Lord of humanity
with a drunkard? May Allah keep me from such misguidance and crimes! Now see what the Quran says in Truth; "ALLAH, NONE HAS THE RIGHT TO BE WORSHIPPED BUT HE, THE EVER LIVING, THE ONE WHO SUSTAINS AND PROTECTS ALL THAT EXISTS.NEITHER SLUMBER NOR SLEEP OVERTAKES HIM. To HIM BELONGS WHATEVER IS IN THE HEAVENS AND WHATEVER IS ON EARTH." Q2:225 Now my friend, I ask, which verse sounds most befitting for the Lord of all that exists! It should be clear to you as I believe you are a god-fearing man. Who would you say Satan has deceived?
And finally, you should know that satan is clearly depicted in the Quran for what he is, an avowed enemy to those who believe in the One True God, Allah. The Quran is the Final Revelation of God, sent to all of humanity [unlike other scripture sent to a nation or tribe and then lost or changed], it is clear in all its meanings and if you wish to understand the nature of Satan then refer to the what Allah, your Lord and my Lord [and the Lord of Jesus] says about Satan, "O mankind! Eat the lawful good things from what is available on Earth, and do not follow the footstep of Satan. Definitely he is to you a manifest enemy; He definitely commands what is evil and obscene, and that you say something about Allah, of which you do not have knowledge." Q2:168-169 A good example is franklin graham who is viciously attacking Islam. Whatever his motives, he is surely misguided and seeking to increase his fame and wealth which is frequently the case with TV evangelist stars, and more than a few have "fallen from grace"
for the kinds of obscenities Allah refers to. Perhaps the next verse is even more befitting of graham and others; "He [satan] makes promises to them and arouses false ambitions in them; and Satan's promises are nothing but deception." Q4:120And those who spread wicked lies and speak without knowledge nor proofs should know what Allah says; "Should I inform you of those upon whom the devils descend? They descend on every sinful, fabricator, They incite the hearsay and most of them are liars." Q26:221-223
Seems Allah might speak about the people who sent this letter in the Quran?
002.008 And of mankind are some who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day, when they believe not.
002.009 They think to beguile Allah and those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not.
002.010 In their hearts is a disease, and Allah increaseth their disease. A painful doom is theirs because they lie.
002.011 And when it is said unto them: Make not mischief in the earth, they say: We are peacemakers only.
002.012 Are not they indeed the mischief-makers ? But they perceive not.
