ArchivedLeftists Treat Christianity as Cancer :: KaituKaitu Perhaps. But there are people out there who do hate Christianity and do want to strip Christians of our rights. I apologize for stating that you were one of those people. However, I think it's horrible for someone to compare Christians to a deadly disease. Disagree with Christianity all you want. That's your right. However, in the future, please refrain from comparing Christianity to cancer. There's a big difference between religious whackos (like the Westboro cult) and normal, every day people. I'm not a whacko who screams that God hates gay people or whatever, because I know that's not the truth. As far as Christians killing people? Yes, it's true that in the past, that's happened. But some of the people you mentioned were only Christian in name. Me? I wouldn't kill a person, unless it was in self-defense. And even then, I'd most likely feel sick about it afterward. (Depends on how vicious the attacker is. If he's another Charlie Manson? Nope. Not going to feel remorseful.) So please, also refrain from labelling all Christians as murderers. And you made the wrong comparison. Religion is not a disease, Kaitu, no matter how much you disagree with it. It's about believing in someone higher than yourself. It's about putting your trust and faith in a deity and believing that, no matter what happens, said deity will see you through. I don't agree with the religion of Islam, but I would never refer to that religion as "cancer." That's hateful, Kaitu. And you should know better. How would you feel if someone referred to Atheism as cancerous? I might not understand your reasons for being an Atheist, but if I come across someone on this board who compares Atheism to cancer, I'll stand up to them. Your reality, Kaitu. But not everyone thinks like you. Just because you're incapable of believing in anything other than what you see in front of your eyes, doesn't mean that the person down the street is going to think the same way. I take comfort in my belief and knowledge that there is a higher being looking out for me, as well as other human beings. And proof of that being's existence came this year, when my father miraculously recovered from a severe case of pneumonia. We're talking about someone who was practically two steps away from Death's door. And he recovered, Kaitu. The doctors had done all that they could, but at the end of the day, the ultimate decision was left up to God. I'm grateful that He allowed my father to recover. But even if my father had passed away, I would have still believed in God. Things happen for a reason. You don't always have to know the reason right then and there, but it does exist. Also, given the fact that I wasn't even supposed to be conceived is a miracle in itself. After my father's operation, he was told that there was no way he and my mother would be able to have another child. In 1979, my mom learned that she was pregnant. In March, 1980, yours truly entered the world. And I know that someone's probably going to suggest that the man who raised me is not my biological father, but believe me, he is. I look too much like him to not be his flesh and blood. In any case, I think that when the Second Coming arrives, you will be very surprised by what you see. (That is, if the Second Coming takes place in your lifetime.) Anyway, please don't compare Christianity or any other religion to cancer or other diseases. It's a sign of pure ignorance, and it's inexcusable. Just out of curiosity, why have you chosen not to believe that there's a higher being, somewhere out there? I'm just curious. |
