Sure, you still have al-Lah, the Moon God, you have the Ka'aba [where the 360 idols used ot be housed in], and along with the social reforms, you have Islam. In the case of the Catholic church, they too evolved from earlier, pagan beliefs [Mary as a goddess-figure] saints [a number of them never even existed but instead were patterned after pagan gods; Brigid of Ireland is one example]. None of that happened overnight; it was a process. For better or worse. Even Muhammad was on the verge of giving in to allowing the worship of the Daughters of Allah among the Quraysh in order to gain converts. |
