"There is a new movement in the gay community that is emphasizing personal relationships over
sexual relationships. As one gay activist put it: "We are attempting to show gay men they don't
have to bed hop to be gay or maintain intimate friendships and relationships. Most of us were
introduced to gay society via the bar scene and that is not representative of being gay." This is a
true statement. "
The best of luck to them.

"Instincts are beyond our control."
True enough. Which is why we have societal standards of morals and ethics to put them under control. Not to mention the Bible, of course.
"Perhaps the notion of breeding (what does go on in the sex act) could be somewhat of an instinct, but it would be across the board -- not just limited to heterosexual sex."
I agree that breeding for survival of the species is an instinct.
"If it was a powerful motivation or impulse, kids all over the place through little will of their own will be trying to copulate with anything in sight."
I agree that to a degree, hormones play a role in the impulse and instinct. But ever since the far left did try so very hard -- and succeeded -- in establishing sex ed for children in public schools,
teaching kids the mechanics of sexual actions, and when you have children who are impressionable, and of course many kids will try to imitate what they see around them.
"If it was an innate ability then every time a man and a woman get together to breed, then we must assume that they both know what they are doing and what goes where."
As the old joke goes, women in private, when talking amongst themselves, say, "So long as a man knows what to do with it; otherwise I'll have to show him."
"If we say that Heterosexuality is innate, then we must allow folks to also claim that Homosexuality may also be innate (via some "gay gene" or something of that nature)."
I think that has already been claimed by the homosexual community. However, scientific research since then has debunked it. Actually, claiming homosexual acts are innate in some people is a means of justification for the act, not an excuse as they otherwise would have you believe.
"The glorious statement that can be made is that God has given us a Free Will."
I agree about free will. But with making choices comes responsibility. Consequences. The fact that God kicked Adam and Eve out of Eden as a consequence for their rebelling against God's order not to eat of the fruit from the Tree of Life. [Gen. 3:3] The reason for laws, man's rebellious nature, and so forth.
"When it comes to the age old argument of Nature vs. Nurture, my money is on the notion that
most of our habits and preferences come from social, personal, and interpersonal reactions to
the stimuli that are around us. As our minds develop, so do our perceptions of the world around
us. Therein, I believe homosexuality is tucked. Through our perceptions in our society and our
lives, we take on such preferences."
Yes, I am familiar with the liberal premise of human nature and society. Very familiar with it.
I've also heard the often excuse, "it's okay to do something so long as everyone else does it" bit too.
