ArchivedJesus Tempted by the devilYes scripture does say that the Father gave Jesus authority. But that does not mean Jesus did not die for our sins and is not God in the flesh. These things are not contradictions, you just have to put them together. Don't only take the verses where it seems Jesus is not God, also take the verses where it seems Jesus is God into consideration. When you take both into consideration, you see that scripture clearly teaches that the Father gives Jesus authority to rule over us, and gave Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins, and that we do not please the Father unless we accept His sacrifice. God does not want our good works as a means to getting into his Kingdom. We are not saved BY our good works. We are saved UNTO good works. Many things prove Jesus' divinity, and that includes his running into the devil in the wilderness to be tested. |
