Aineo,
I can "thank all the gay activists for the marriage problem"? So, if it weren't for all those pesky activists, gay marriage would be legal?
Yeah, right.
And I'm not making it a religious issue. I'm not bringing it into "the church." If I want to get married, I cannot go to a secular Justice of the Peace, and that's the problem.
President Bush has lawyers looking for a way to block gay marriage. In my state, activists are pushing for a "Defense of Marriage Act" that would legally define marriage as "one man and one woman." The majority of Americans oppose civil unions, the purely secular marriage-equivalent, which was created specifically to avoid the religious connotations "marriage" has for many people.
This is not people "defending their faith" from us. This is people actively opposing our civil rights, because of their religious beliefs. And yes, since I live in the U.S., where most of them are Christian, that's my primary concern.
I'm not going to argue with your "homosexual activist," since he isn't here to defend his statements. But I find his "unhappy truths" to be a reflection of his worldview, not any reality I'm familiar with.
