ArchivedFrom chance to truthYou write as though the concept of a god-man messiah is new and exclusive to christianity. You might look into the myths of Dinysus/Bacchus, Mithra, Osiris, Attis, and Buddha just to name a few. My feelings have nothing to do with anything. Only children or very immature adults act impulsively without regard for the consequence of their actions. Christianity assumes that mankind is inherently evil and in need of a battery or rules and laws. Given the opportunity, mankind will surprise you with its honesty, integrity, and decision making ability. Case in point: I am not a christian. But when I buy winter hay from the farmer down the road, I dutifully put $2 in the little metal box and take my bale of hay. I have yet to speak with this person from whom I have been buying hay for several years. Given the opportunity, people will demonstrate goodness over evil. It happens quite often. Christians must focus on the evil or they will be out of business. 9/11 was evil - but I didn't hear much about the incredible outpouring of goodwill that followed the tragedy from people donating money and supplies to people leaving their livelihoods to volunteer. Hurricane Floyd completely inundated eastern NC in 1999. Neighbors were helping each other flee the rising waters, donating food and clothing, and volunteering in shelters while christians debated whether the flood was a sign of the endtimes. Give people credit. There is more good in them than you appear to give them credit for. With or without your 'god'. |
